What is biogas and CNG?
Biogas is a renewable fuel produced from organic matter such as food waste, sewage sludge, and manure. It is carbon-neutral or even carbon-negative, making it one of the most sustainable fuel options for vehicles today.
CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is fossil-based compressed natural gas. Most Swedish pumps sell blended gas — a mix of roughly 90% biogas and 10% natural gas — which is significantly greener than petrol or diesel.
Cars built for biogas are compatible with all biogas, blended gas, and CNG stations in Sweden.
How do I find the nearest biogas station?
Open Biogaskartan and select Nearby. You can either share your GPS location or search by city or address. Stations are listed sorted by distance, with prices and opening status shown directly in the list.
On the map view you can tap a station to see its prices and launch turn-by-turn navigation in Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze.
Search for biogas stations along your route
Planning a longer trip? Select the Along route tab, enter your start and destination, and choose how far from the road you are willing to detour. Biogaskartan calculates the route and shows all stations within that distance — ideal for planning fuel stops on a road trip or daily commute.
Biogas prices in Sweden
Prices on Biogaskartan are sourced either directly from operator websites or from a community-maintained map run by volunteer biogas car drivers. Each station shows a price in SEK/kg along with a percentage indicator showing whether it is cheaper or more expensive than the national average. Community prices are updated irregularly and may not always be current.

Prices vary between stations. Biogaskartan shows current prices and compares them against the national average so you can easily find the best deal along your route.
Can I fill up CNG with a biogas car?
Yes. All cars built for biogas are compatible with CNG stations and blended gas pumps.
How often is the map updated?
Station data is fetched from a community-maintained map and directly from several operator websites. The list refreshes every 6 hours. Community prices are updated by volunteers and may vary in accuracy.
Is Biogaskartan free to use?
Yes, Biogaskartan is completely free.
Privacy
Biogaskartan is designed to collect as little data about you as possible.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to measure page views and understand how the app is used. No cookies are set, no personal profiles are created, and IP addresses are never stored — only aggregated, anonymised statistics (e.g. country, browser, and page views) are kept. Legal basis: legitimate interest (improving the service).
Location data
If you choose to share your GPS location, the coordinates are used only to show you the nearest stations. They are never sent to a database or stored anywhere. Legal basis: consent (you actively approve in the browser's permission dialog).
Address searches and route planning
Text you type in the search field is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim (geocoding) and OpenRouteService (routing) to compute results. Biogaskartan does not store these queries.
Cookies
Biogaskartan uses no tracking cookies. SessionStorage is used only to remember whether you have dismissed the install banner during your current browser session — no data is sent to any server.
Your rights
Since we do not store personal data, there is in practice nothing to request or delete. If you have any questions about how your data is handled, contact us at hej@biogaskartan.se.
